Rooted in Douglas County
A fifth-generation Douglas County resident, Tyler Caille understands our communities not just as a public servant, but as a neighbor, parent, and lifelong resident. His commitment to Douglas County goes beyond a title—it’s a responsibility to represent families, friends, and neighbors—and to protect the county he calls home.
Tyler and his wife, Julie, are raising their two school-aged children in Douglas County. Julie is a veteran first responder who works in suicide and crisis intervention and is a local small business owner. Together, their family has a firsthand understanding of emergency response, mental health challenges, and the realities facing working families and small businesses in Douglas County.
As a husband and father in a first-responder household, Tyler understands what’s at stake for community safety and for supporting those who serve.
A Commitment to Service That Started Early
Tyler’s dedication to public safety began at a young age. At 17 years old, he completed Emergency Medical Technician training as a high school senior, receiving special permission from the local medical program director and waiting until age 18 to obtain state certification.
That early start laid the foundation for a career of service to Douglas County.
Education Focused on Law Enforcement Leadership
Tyler’s approach is grounded in formal education, advanced training, and continuous professional development specific to the responsibilities of a Sheriff. His professional experience is supported by a strong educational foundation in law enforcement leadership, including degrees in Criminal Justice Administration with an emphasis on constitutional law, ethics, and the criminal justice system.
He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates Trilogy Leadership Series and West Point Leadership, completing advanced training in organizational leadership, decision-making, and the management of complex public-safety operations. Tyler has also earned Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission certifications at the First Level, Middle Management, and Executive levels.
This education informs Tyler’s approach to professional oversight and sound judgment

Leadership Beyond Law Enforcement
Beyond the Sheriff’s Office, Tyler has served more than 29 years in emergency response, all to the county he calls home. For the past 22 years, he has served as Fire Chief for Douglas County Fire District #5.
Earlier in his career, he was one of the original members who helped unionize Chelan County Fire District #1 (Wenatchee Valley Fire) with the International Association of Fire Fighters, demonstrating long-standing support for first responders, professional organizations, and industry standards.
Tyler also served three terms on the Mansfield School District School Board, where he worked on behalf of students, families, and staff to support safe learning environments, responsible governance, and public accountability.
Previously, Tyler served as a board member of the Sage Advocacy Group, supporting community-based efforts focused on domestic violence and sexual assault safety, advocacy, and access to critical resources for individuals and families impacted by abuse.
Across all of these roles, Tyler has been a consistent advocate for the mental health and well-being of law enforcement, first responders, and their families, recognizing that access to mental health support is essential to effective public safety and sound decision-making.
Leading Forward
Experience does not mean keeping things the same. It means knowing what works, understanding where improvement is needed, and taking responsibility for guiding progress thoughtfully and effectively.
Tyler brings his own leadership style, decision-making skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement—both within the Sheriff’s Office and in how the Sheriff's Office serves the citizens of Douglas County. His focus is on enhancing community safety, supporting deputies, and earning the public's confidence each day.
